here. For many years, she's lived a quiet life in Carmel, California (as quiet as a home full of dogs can be!) and is now eighty-eight. Her fans, of which I am one, remain devoted to her and many still hold out hope that somehow she'll be presented with an Honorary Oscar due to her sizeable body of effervescent, captivating film work. Just before this film, she'd scored a major hit with Pillow Talk and was nominated as Best Actress for it (Simone Signoret won for Room at the Top that year.) So fond was she of the dress she wore to the ceremony, it was featured in Midnight Lace. She was nominated for a Best Actress-Drama Golden Globe for Lace, but lost to Greer Garson in Sunrise at Campobello.
